What it does not do

Most of this is a decision, not a gap.

Every one of these came up, was examined, and was left out deliberately — except the two at the bottom, which are work not done yet and are marked as such. Reading this before the demo rather than after the contract saves time on both sides.

AMC does notInstead, and why
Keep a general ledger
No chart of accounts, no bank reconciliation, no month-end close. QuickBooks connects both ways: invoices, credit notes and supplier bills go out, payments read back and flip the invoice to paid. The forwarder’s accountant already has a trusted ledger. A second one inside the freight system is not a feature, it is a reconciliation.
Transmit to CBP
AMC builds the ISF-10, ISF-5, AES and AMS records, runs the pre-checks that catch a rejection before the vessel sails, and records the responses back onto the shipment. AMC is not an ABI broker and did not set out to become one. For a forwarder that files its own entries, this is the paperwork half of it, done properly.
Send EDI over a VAN or AS2
The system generates the 315 file for download. Booking EDI, 300 and 301, is not there at all. To say “connects by EDI” would be a sentence about a file, not about a connection.
Pull live carrier or airline rates
Rates are entered by people, or read off the sheet by the model and checked by a person before anything is saved. What comes in exchange is an enforced validity window: an expired table cannot price a quotation at all, and the desk is warned 30, 14 and 7 days out.
Ship a report builder
Nine standard reports, saved views, and a Monday morning email that goes out whether or not anyone opens the screen. When a report is missing, the export is widened instead. A builder is a second product with its own bugs, and the answer to most requests is a CSV.
Run a sales pipeline
No leads, no opportunities, no stages. Deliberate: in forwarding a quotation is a document, not an opportunity — it turns into the shipment. CRM keeps contacts, activity and follow-ups on the customer card, and a board of what is going cold.
Give brokers and destination agents their own screens
No customs-broker portal and no operating screens for the agent at the other end. They get a mailed document set, and the money side runs through the settlement ledger with netting and co-loader statements.
Print an ocean B/L for a company without the licence
Locked behind the is_nvocc switch. A house bill issued by someone who may not issue one costs more than the freight on it.
Translate the staff screens
English at the desk, and no staff mobile app. The driver app is the exception — eleven screens in four languages, with barcode scanning, photo, signature and GPS proof of delivery, and an offline queue for the yard where there is no signal. That is where the translation was needed.
Hold a separate integration key per company
One account on one server today. Tracking and QuickBooks run under AMC’s credentials, not under the customer’s. Where a forwarder’s own carrier accounts are a requirement, this is not it yet.
Sell carrier labels or end-to-end parcel tracking
No UPS, FedEx or USPS labels — none of the last-mile connections are built. The final leg is typed in. Route optimisation, time windows, redelivery, returns and cash on delivery are all absent. What Parcel does hold is prepayment (refunds stay as a negative line, they are not deleted), de minimis screening for 33 destinations, and 500 rows pasted straight out of a spreadsheet.
Handle inbound US de minimis parcels
Federal Register 2026-12670 suspended the de minimis exemption for every mode except mail, effective 24 June 2026 and indefinite. Parcel is for shipments leaving the United States. Any vendor still selling Section 321 clearance into the US is selling last year’s rule.
Call LiveTrack finished Stage 1
Not a decision — work not done. The portal installs to the customer’s home screen from the browser under the forwarder’s name and icon, and sends push alerts on four status codes: delayed, arrived, out for delivery, delivered. It is not in an app store, and is not sold as one.
Make Portal disappear when it is switched off
Not a decision — work not done. Everywhere else in AMC, off means the menu is gone rather than greyed out. Portal is today’s exception: fifteen of the customer-facing screens do not yet read the company switch. It is on the list, and until it is fixed no claim to the contrary is made.

A page like this is cheap to write and expensive to skip.

Every line above is a question that would otherwise land in the demo, or worse, in month three. Twenty rule checks run before each release for the same reason — one of them, check_mockup_claims, exists purely to stop the selling side from talking bigger than the product.

A deal-breaker on this list is best raised on the call.

Two of them AMC intends to fix and has said which. The rest AMC does not intend to build, and a demo that ends in ten minutes because the forwarder needs a general ledger inside the freight system is a good outcome for both desks.

The twenty-two questions →

Get a demo

The other half is best seen on a demonstration.

Forty-five minutes, one shipment, quotation to invoice, on a demonstration company or on a copy of the customer’s own spreadsheet. The session ends with a written quotation.
